Analysing Film Posters.

The Grudge Poster:
This poster is relatively simple they captivating. It draws people in as it shows the characters eyes. Eyes are very expressive, therefore to use this in front covers of magazines and posters captures the horror genre perfectly. This is because eyes can convey a range of emotions such as evil, hatred, sadness and joy. The Grudge poster has a photograph where the character is looking directly at the audience. This sense of direct contact can make people feel awkward and uncomfortable therefore to use this for the horror genre is perfectly precise. As The Grudge is similar to a psycological horror, and my trailer has elements of psychological horrors, I personally feel that using an image such as the one used on the poster can create the same impact however different.

The Ring Poster:
This poster is very basic, but the image editing effects are immense. The poster doesn't show ant specific character that would be in the film, but however uses an element which the film mainly reflects off on. For example, for my trailer I have used an object such as a necklace - watch. Therefore i could maybe use this on the poster as my main image and will be the main focus on the film. The Ring poster also reflects a sense of mystery as it doesn't give away the story line of the film or show the audience what the characters are, thus this draws them into the poster and manipulates them to go and watch the film to see what all the hype was about. Both Posters use dark intense rich colours. For example, with The Grudge poster it mainly uses black and then an intense blood colour like red for the typography for the title of the film. With The Ring poster, it uses a very dark midnight blue to connote for the sky, and a bright white colour to represent the moons contours. The white glow also emphasizes the clouds around the moon, thus creating a dark night.
